One of the funniest comedies I have seen is Happy Gilmore, even though it isn’t Sandler’s most popular movie I love it. Happy Gilmore is a typical Adam Sandler vehicle that may have seemed a bit fresher at the time of its original release. But having seen countless other Adam Sandler pictures . Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler) is a short-tempered hockey player, famed more so for his fighting than for his ice skills. Having simultaneously learned that his grandmother’s house is being repossessed and that he has one of the most powerful golf swings in the world, Happy joins the PGA tour to win money to buy back the house. During the tournament, Happy quickly makes a rival with the predicted champion, Shooter (Christopher McDonald). As the golfing progresses, the two begin to face off directly. With the help of his love interest Virginia Venit (Julie Bowen) and golf trainer Chubbs (Carl Weathers), can Happy succeed ?
This is one of those films either you love it or hate it ? It’s just childish humor to the bone and a very typical Sandler film. Regardless of its negative press to this day, it’s very unique and shows Sandler at his funniest. Can you name a better golf movie ? I definitely can’t. It’s one of those films you can watch and it will always make you laugh. It’s a shame that Sandler doesn’t make movies like this anymore. I wish he did to be honest.
