Thor 2 Release date
Given that Thordid decent business at the box office for Marvel, it’s no surprise that the company would be making its plans for a sequel. And though quiet moves have been afoot for a while now, the studio and corporate owners Disney have now made it official, booking a July 26, 2013 release date. But while Deadline reports that Chris Hemsworth will once again be swinging Mjolnir as the central hero, it would seem that Kenneth Branagh has either decided not to return or that the company has opted to go in another direction for the next film. Cue a mad scramble of agents trying to get their megaphone-wielding clients the job. Thor co-writer Don Payne has already been kicking around ideas for a second film, though no details have slipped out just yet. But the hero’s story continues, of course, in The Avengers, which Hemsworth is now busy shooting alongside Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo and the rest. He’s also become quite an in-demand performer since donning the cape: just yesterday, he was attached to action thriller Shadow Runner and will follow up his Avengers duty by teaching Kristen Stewart to survive and fight back in Snow White and the Huntsman.

Transformers 3 passes $ 400 Million
Transformers: Dark Of The Moon is the biggest Fourth-Of-July weekend opener of all time. Its US haul was set to be $181.1m by the end of Monday, with $116.4m of that over the three-day weekend, beating previous record-holder Spider-Man 2 and its $115.8m (although that film did not benefit from a 3D premium).Worldwide, Bay’s film had taken $217m by Sunday, 55% more than its predecessor Revenge Of The Fallen. That’s the third-best global debut of all time apparently, making up for this instalment’s slight underperformance initially in the US, relevant to its predecessor. 60% of US takings and 70% of worldwide takings were from 3D cinemas, however, which explains a little of that gap.It also managed the biggest opening ever in seven countries: Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Peru. The countdown until the fourth film is announced starts here. Check out my review by clicking on this.
Johnny Depp in talks for Pirates 5
Given the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise so far – including the fact that On Stranger Tides just sailed across the $1 billion mark at the global box office – it was only a matter of time before Disney started to turn up the heat on another instalment. The script has been underway for a while now, and though Pirates anchor Johnny Depp has said he wants to take a little time in between movies again, he’s apparently now in the early stages of a deal to return for the fifth outing.Yes, it should really surprise no one, but before the fourth film arrived, Depp was talking up how it would depend on the script and how much he wanted to let the series rest in dry dock to let audiences breathe. But despite fairly scathing reviews for Stranger Tides, it’s become yet another cash cow, so naturally work is really getting started for more Sparrow time.
