During my time at university The Inbetweeners was a focal part of any weekly tv schedule, a few years back I reviewed the first movie. So it would be rude of me not to review the second one. Personally did we need another one? errrm NO! But once you make a successful movie you have to make a second apparently. So what is Inbetweeners 2 all about? Last time we met the Rudge Park posse, they were causing chaos in Malia, Crete. Nearly a year on, Will (Simon Bird), Jay (James Buckley), Neil (Blake Harrison) and Simon (Joe Thomas) have gone their separate ways. Jay is staying with his uncle in Australia. Neil has actually managed to get a job. And Simon and Will are at different universities, but life isn’t panning out as they’d hoped. So when Jay emails to say he’s now become the biggest DJ in Australia and his life is one long party, the threesome need no encouragement to leap on a plane for a wild Easter break.
I was incredibly surprised by how much I enjoyed the film. There were several scenes where I was crying with laughter! We do have a lot of toilet humour in this film, it’s very cheesy but hilarious too.The whole film was embarrassing to watch just like the original series. That was always what made the shows so good. There were some unfunny moments where the jokes failed after a minute of building them up. I found that this was more common at the start and the bad jokes at the start made the hilarious jokes stand out even more.We had a lot of pretty graphic scenes, anyone who is made sick by the sight of dirty slapstick toilet jokes won’t enjoy some of the funniest parts of the film. Basically we have a lot of penises and shit in this movie.Overall I would have to say one of the best comedies this year. The whole cinema was cracking up! If you enjoyed the first Inbetweeners movie you will enjoy this.
